Nadia Trudel was born and raised in Montreal, so she could become the token MTL friend to the city’s population of students and artists who wish they were from Montreal. They will, of course, leave the city soon enough. She is best known for writing about K-Pop, drag, the panopticon, and #girlhood for outlets known and unknown to her grandparents. Currently, she is the interim communications and social media coordinator at Ada X, a bilingual feminist artist-run centre.

Nadia has written about culture, music, art, fashion, books, technology, and LGBTQ2S+ issues for outlets like CBC (2023, 2025), Dazed, MTV News, Polyester Magazine (2025, 2026), Xtra, Clash, Maisonneuve Magazine, the Montreal Review of Books, Cult MTL, and Daily Hive. In 2025, she wrote a series of reports about the K-Pop industry in Canada for the Korea Creative Content Agency. She's particularly known for her interviews with artists and creatives, her intersectional approach, and global collaborations.

Her short stories, satire, and creative non-fiction have been published by Headlights Anthology, Soliloquies Anthology, Pixie Literary, and Scatterbrain Magazine. She has served as a fiction reader for the Ex-Puritain since Issue 70.

Previously, Nadia has served as the Milieux Institute’s Storyteller, editor for Phidal Publishing, Yiara Magazine, Lignes de Fuite, and Scatterbrain Magazine.

Nadia is an experienced audio-storyteller who created, hosted, and produced the weekly K-Pop radio show Seoul Sister for CJLO1690am, the Curated (by Yiara) podcast, and a series for the Human Rights Talks podcast. She also edited a podcast series for UNICEF and interned as a producer in Radio-Canada's podcast and audiobook department. She threatens to return to the medium.

Testimonials, Recommendations & Praise

💬  Alexandria Haber, Playwright and Actor

“This playwright uses dark humour to examine the subjects of grief and family dynamics. The playwright has a keen ear for dialogue, in particular, the dialogue between the two siblings rings true. It is often tricky to balance humour and pathos and still remain truthful to the subject at hand, and this play manages to accomplish the task."

💬 James Broden, Author & Concept Artist

“Nadia's help was invaluable in preparing the first chapters of my debut novel, The Pacific Arcanum, for query submissions. She delivered detailed, thoughtful notes on areas that needed improvement, including clear suggestions when appropriate. It was a first for me, having a professional review of my manuscript. Nadia's feedback was both constructive and encouraging. I am grateful for the collaboration and highly recommend Nadia to any writer seeking a young and insightful editor.”

💬  Haley Mlotek, Writer & Editor

“Nadia possesses a quick, intelligent mind well-suited to any work related to journalism and writing. She has both a natural instinct for compelling story ideas, and an expert sensibility for shaping them into viable pitches. The assignments that she has submitted based on these pitches have been clean, concise, and written with a distinct style that’s entirely her own. She approaches her essays with rigor and humour, balancing the facts with the tone most appropriate for the subject in a way that invites in readers and audiences.”

💬  Puneet Dutt, Poet and Editor

"Holy moly, you've got a style all your own. You're like a Hunter S T inventing your own style. No one is out there writing like you."

💬 Micheline Chevrier, Theatre Director and Dramaturge

“The playwright has creatively explored this ‘dilemma’ through crisp and humorous dialogue and created characters who are wonderfully compelling in their attempt to resolve this conundrum. Wonderfully entertaining.”

💬  Kristy Snell, Associate Professor Concordia Journalism

“Nadia enthusiastically embraced this process, showing excellent communication and leadership skills. Walking into a classroom full of high school students as a mentor can be stressful for anyone but Nadia did a fantastic job of it, demonstrating versatility, creativity, and kindness in working with the teenagers."
